The Remapping and Analysis of Human Rights and Peace Education in ASEAN/Southeast Asia

As follow up to the 2013 study on the “Mapping and Analysis of Human Rights and Peace Education in Southeast Asia,” SHAPE-SEA’s “Remapping and Analysis of Human rights and Peace Education in ASEAN/Southeast Asia” was developed to systematically update the development in human rights and peace education/studies in ASEAN/Southeast Asia. It looked into the courses and programs on human rights, peace and conflicts being undertaken by universities located in the region. The analysis of existing course syllabi and curriculum was also conducted. To certain extent, material being used by instructors were collected and examined, as well.

Results and recommendations shall serve as foundation for advocating and policy influencing for the development of courses/ curricula on human rights and/or peace in the region. The report will be shared with Higher Education Institutions, Civil Society Organisations and relevant ASEAN sectoral bodies, namely, Senior Officials Meeting on Education (SOM-ED), ASEAN University Network (AUN), ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR) and ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR).
