🌿 SHAPE-SEA facilitated a brownbag session titled ‘From Principles to Policy Advocacy: Advocating and Lobbying for Human Rights-based Cities’ on April 22, 2025, in Bandung, Indonesia, with members of Inti Muda Indonesia. The session focused on efforts to propose and lobby for policy recommendations on ensuring inclusive cities in collaboration with local government agencies.

Inti Muda Indonesia is a non-profit organization conducting research, leading advocacy campaigns, building networks, and strengthening organizations and capacities for young key populations and young people living with HIV (YPLHIV) across Indonesia.
The session emphasized the importance of a human rights-based approach in policy frameworks and advocacy work. It also highlighted the critical role of youth and grassroots voices in amplifying these efforts, ensuring that policies reflect the lived realities and aspirations of communities on the ground. Afterwards, participants engaged in ideation and brainstorming around the question, “What does a human rights-based city look like to you?” followed by an insightful sharing and discussion.

SHAPE-SEA is committed to bridging knowledge and critical enquiry on emerging trends from academia and scholars to advocates, stakeholders, and civil society actors working for human rights and peace toward sustainable development in the region.
