SHAPE-SEA, in collaboration with regional partners, has launched the Youth Catalysts initiative, empowering students, researchers, and advocates to lead transformative change within their universities. Recognizing youth as central stakeholders in shaping inclusive and rights-based higher education, the initiative provides platforms for young people to co-envision campuses where human rights, peace, and social justice are embedded across teaching, research, policies, and institutional practices.

The initiative offers Youth Catalysts opportunities to participate in webinars and learning sessions, engage in peer-to-peer consultations, and exchange perspectives on advancing inclusive and rights-based practices. Participants also gain regional visibility for their advocacy efforts, with a chance to have their initiatives featured across SHAPE-SEA channels, newsletters, and platforms. The network is voluntary and flexible, allowing youth to contribute according to their own initiative and capacity.

By nurturing the leadership, creativity, and advocacy skills of young people, the Youth Catalysts initiative aligns with ASEAN’s vision of a people-centered, rights-based community. As universities play a crucial role in fostering innovation and social change, the program seeks to ensure inclusive, equitable, and transformative learning environments that advance human rights, peace, and social justice throughout Southeast Asia.
