Workshop on Teaching Human Rights Law at University, Yangon

The workshop was held during 25^th to 27^th July 2016 in Yangon, Myanmar. It brought 30 participants, lecturers and professors of law from all over the country who have the potential and expertise to create legal courses that focus on human rights education at universities. The workshop was sponsored by Norwegian Centre for Human Rights.The workshop consisted of group works, panel discussions and nine presentations that broadly covered the following topics of Human Rights Education.Opening and Welcome remarks were given by H.E. Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, Minister of Education who laid down the importance of Human Rights education in the period of democratization of Myanmar for peace, stability and development. He announced the offering of Human Rights Law courses for students majoring in law and political science at all universities in Myanmar starting from 2016-2017.The following presentations were made:Status of Human Rights in Myanmar.
