Youth Envisioning Inclusive and Human Rights-based Universities in Southeast Asia Competition

The ASEAN Community Vision 2025 envisioned ASEAN as a peaceful, stable, and people-centered regional community. Building on this foundation, the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 aspires to create a resilient, dynamic, innovative, and people-centered community that fosters economic prosperity, social well-being, and environmental sustainability — all while upholding democracy, good governance, human rights, and the rule of law.

Higher education institutions have a crucial role to play in realizing this vision. Universities serve as catalysts for innovation and social change, making them key drivers in building a resilient and dynamic ASEAN community.

The ASEAN University Network – Human Rights Education (AUN-HRE), the Strengthening Human Rights and Peace Research and Education in Southeast Asia (SHAPE-SEA) Program and the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies (IHRP), Mahidol University, Thailand are launching an initiative to advance an integration of human rights and peace framework in higher education institutions in Southeast Asia.  In collaboration with the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), we are calling for the participation of youth in envisioning inclusive and rights-based universities in Southeast Asia through a Vision Board competition.
