This national training is part of SHAPE-SEA’s ongoing mission to strengthen the protection and promotion of human rights and peace in Southeast Asia by empowering scholars and researchers through education and research. The training aims to enhance participants’ understanding of human rights concepts, peace education, and research methodologies. It will also equip participants with the skills needed to bridge gaps between research findings and educational practices, with a specific focus on Lao and regional context.

The training is tailored for emerging Laotian scholars from various academic institutions and research centers in Lao PDR who are eager to advance their knowledge and capacity in human rights and peace studies. A total of 22 participants were selected following a competitive application process, with the call for applications launched through SHAPE-SEA’s website and social media channels.

I am truly excited about this opportunity to engage with emerging scholars from Lao PDR. This training is more than just about imparting knowledge—it’s about inspiring participants to think critically, ask difficult questions, and explore solutions that are deeply rooted in their local context. Our goal is to nurture a community of researchers who are passionate about advancing human rights and peace, not just in their own country, but across the region.” said Leony Panjaitan, SHAPE-SEA Project Lead for Increasing Research Capacities
