Be part of the growing network to advance human rights and peace research and education in Southeast Asia.
Expert-led webinar discussions exploring thematic issues in human rights frameworks and peace research initiatives, featuring homegrown scholar-practitioners, academics, researchers, and civil society actors from across the Southeast Asian region.
The Critical Horizons Webinar Series is a flagship knowledge dissemination initiative under SHAPE-SEA’s Strategic Communications and Advocacy Unit. Launched as part of SHAPE-SEA’s 10th Anniversary under the theme Amplifying Voices, Co-creating Change, the series serves as a regional platform for dialogue, reflection, and engagement on pressing human rights and peace issues across Southeast Asia.
The series aims to amplify the research, knowledge products, and outputs of homegrown scholars, particularly those supported through SHAPE-SEA’s Research Grants Programme (RGP), while creating space for emerging and established researchers from across the region to share their work and perspectives. It brings together civil society organisations, academics, researchers, students, grassroots advocates, policymakers, and the wider public to engage in critical discussions on issues affecting the region, promoting interdisciplinary learning, regional collaboration, and broader public understanding of human rights and peace challenges.
A core purpose of the series is ensuring that research does not remain confined to academic spaces, but reaches communities and stakeholders who can use findings for advocacy, policy engagement, education, and movement-building. The webinars therefore function not only as dissemination activities, but as spaces for solidarity, dialogue, and regional knowledge exchange.
