On 23 August 2025, members of the ASEAN University Network–Human Rights Education (AUN-HRE) convened at Ibis Hotel for their annual meeting, providing a dedicated space to reflect on ongoing efforts to advance human rights education across the region. The gathering brought together representatives from member institutions to share updates, assess progress, and reaffirm their commitment to nurturing a culture of human rights in higher education.

Discussions emphasized the importance of strengthening advocacy for human rights-based universities and expanding collaboration across academic communities. Participants exchanged strategies for deeper engagement with faculty, emerging scholars, and youth, focusing on efforts to embed human rights in university policies, teaching, and research. The meeting underscored a shared vision: to build inclusive, people-centered academic spaces that empower learners and contribute to a just and rights-respecting Southeast Asia.
